In memory of Professor Stephen Hawking (1942-2018)
“One, remember to look up at the stars and not down at your feet. Two, never give up work. Work gives you meaning and purpose and life is empty without it. Three, if you are lucky enough to find love, remember it is there and don’t throw it away.”
— To Diane Sawyer/ABC News June 2010

BACKGROUND: After working for over two months with four other musicians from three different countries, I am so excited to release the original song, Solace Tasili – this means, ‘to comfort’.  The lyrics are sung once in English; and repeated in Urdu – the meaning of the lyrics are the same in each language.

I am fascinated by different languages and Urdu is very beautiful – a softer, rounder more fluid sounding set of syllables, very exacting to sing, but, quite pretty and melodic.  Writing the lyrics as a fully Universal song, applicable anywhere in the world where life is brutal, unforgiving or even just, stressful.

This song was written to bring hope and comfort to all those dealing with the various difficulties of life – bringing light to the the darkest places in the world.  There is no religious, political, racial or cultural division in creating such a song – humanity must put aside its differences, live in respect and tolerance with others…..  We all live on the same earth, under the same sun, we all feel and have similiar needs; and we all bleed the same coloured red blood – we are the collective humanity. What we do to others, we do to ourselves – we will reap what we sow in life….. so sow the seeds of a kind heart and loving goodness in your lives.

SPECIAL THANKS:  To Colin Hillstrom (Canada) Quartz Crystal Singing Bowl Musician for assisting in writing the lyrics – those hours in the cafe drinking coffee and imagining how to say the right words – thank you for a memorable afternoon indeed.

To Trent Thomas (USA), much thanks and respect for composing the intial techno track which shaped the melody towards a bright, happy feeling – very appreciated, your innovative ideas which during the ongoing process of creating, gave birth to new ideas and evolution. Love is perennial – and your passion and love for music is appreciated by me – you were the ‘bright spark’ that initiated the music foundation of this song – bless you.

To Wasim Sonu (Pakistan), for all the help with ongoing ideas and inspiration; the translation from English to Urdu; for  keeping me on track with correct pronunciation; and for assisting with distribution and  promotions – a huge task, done over many day’s and nights – thank you, your time and assistance was/is, invaluable in this undertaking.

To Kelly Wilkinson (Canada), a huge gratitude for your tireless endevour towards composing the instrumental backing, recording my vocals over several sessions within challenging studio conditions, plus completing the mixing with myself.

This was a group effort, and despite all the challenges we each had to overcome, the song is completed.  The finished song is quite different to the early beginnings, as it evolved more fully and melodically; then the song had to be pared back in instrumentation enormously to allow the language and sound of the Urdu language to shine in natural beauty. I personally thank each musician for your contributions towards creating this beautiful song, born from kindness and the initial idea to inspire humanity towards a more loving and humane world. ~ Jaya Khoobsurat (Australia)
