Songs of Magnificence

Its been quite some time since I wrote a post – so much has happened in the past many months. The Australian bushfires that took the lives of many people, more than 1500 homes and a guess-timate of a staggering 1.25 billion native animals, and displaced 1000’s of people and their businesses and whole towns turned to ashes. And if that wasn’t enough suffering, we then suffered (with the rest of the world) a full lockdown with CoVid-19, millions losing their livelihoods, dreams dashed, innovation and community spirit rallying, all this amongst additional awareness raising of ‘Black Lives Matter‘ rallies that ironically then caused further lockdown in the state of Victoria. Its been a huge time for everyone.

I personally had three house moves in five months directly due to these events – life turned upside down for a while; and I lost all ‘traction’ with my video-business-card film business, instead, teaching ESL (English to 2nd language learners) online, and praying daily, for financial respite. Just beginning again, to gain a little movement forward in life again. Phew, tough times!

Run to You

“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.”

1 Corinthians 13

So much Singing – and much more

I’ve been singing so much the past eight months – every single day. Sometimes all day; into the night; all through the night – going to bed at early morning; then starting all over again…  its been a huge time of creativity, relentless practice. I have been so busy with ‘other’ creative pursuits this past year, including the gift of travelling to Canada (Vancouver BC; plus Calgary & Banff in Alberta) – the first time in my life I’ve had ‘time’ to develop my other interests. I’ve worked with other musicians to craft a new original song, volunteered in film competitions, produced   short films of my own and…  sung. There is now  more than 2000+ songs on my Smule channel  – each one crafted, one at a time, all songs are a labour of love, unpaid yes, but… filled with the Joy and satisfaction of creating music, short films and many many friendships online and wordwide.  Continue reading “So much Singing – and much more”

Textile Redemption – the tale of Jeni’s marvellous shopping bags

IMG_2136

Jaya proudly holds her beautiful shopping bag, made by textile & stitch Artist, Jeni Irwin 30th July 2017

Meet ‘stitch artist’ Jeni Irwin, from Nungurner, Victoria – she has been making shopping bags for quite some years now, using recycled fabrics from op-shops, thrift stores, market stalls –  as she explained to me, this is “a project to inspire and encourage the use of some of the huge amount of waste fabric that is sent to landfill – offcuts, leftovers, clothes, linen – rescued for a new life!”

New page on my blog – selfies galore – gallery through the years

I have placed a new page on my official blog (selfies are a good record of one’s state of mind) – which contain some of the pictures I’ve taken during the making of musical and film achievements – a general history, some definite nostalgia – there are many pics missing from earlier years, which I’ll add when I find them – but… this was a bit of fun for me, and has brought back so much memory, struggle, triumph, sadness, joy and generally experiences that I’ve treasured — comments are welcome; and questions too, if you feel inspired.
