Textile Redemption – the tale of Jeni’s marvellous shopping bags

Meet ‘stitch artist’ Jeni Irwin, from Nungurner, Victoria – she has been making shopping bags for quite some years now, using recycled fabrics from op-shops, thrift stores, market stalls –  as she explained to me, this is “a project to inspire and encourage the use of some of the huge amount of waste fabric that is sent to landfill – offcuts, leftovers, clothes, linen – rescued for a new life!”

Muscat, Oman – a jewel in the crown of Gulf countries

Such a wonderful visit two weeks back, to Muscat, Oman – a truly magnificent country, that is a green well-manicured oasis of abundance. I will go back there again, without a doubt – I just fell in love with the place!

Journey into the history of Al Ain – two magnificent Museums

I went with a friend and we visited two places:

1. The Al Ain Museum.  Just, MAGNIFICIENT.

One of the best museums I’ve ever been so fortunate to walk into…  We explored for hours…. its a rich heritage, lovingly collated. The glass on the front of each of the displays was perfectly polished; and the Emirate lady at front reception, a caring guide/hostess.  And I was very happy to have spent such quality time poring over all the amazing array of treasures.

‘Synergy’ – A celebration of one school of brilliant kids Artworks!

‘Synergy’ is the annual Art Exhibition held in the school Library in which Coombabah State High School (Queensland) presents both traditional and digital art from Years 8 to 12.

What a fantastic show of talent from young people!
