Something different… a beautiful post written by one of my Thai English students – Weerada Wongputorn – in memory of my recent trip to Chiang Mai Thailand – a huge thank you so much Weerada, for such a lovely written expression.
These pictures of Weerada and myself (taken at the Love Language Academy in Samut Songkram, Maha Chai) also include some tourist trinkets that I purchased at the Long Necked Tribal Village (about an hour’s drive from Chiang Mai); and some angel wings painted on the wall at the hostel I stayed at.
Weerada writes:
“Today, I have talked with a petite blonde-haired lady who is from Australia. She is Teacher Jaya Khoobsurat. We had talked about various interesting things – for example, her recent trip to Chiang Mai; and her Singer challenges (about making music in general, relationships with the singers, and my new understanding of what the phrase ‘bedroom-eyes’ means ie. Jaya told me a funny story about a male singer who adores the female singers.)

I’ve been singing so much the past eight months – every single day. Sometimes all day; into the night; all through the night – going to bed at early morning; then starting all over again… its been a huge time of creativity, relentless practice. I have been so busy with ‘other’ creative pursuits this past year, including the gift of travelling to Canada (Vancouver BC; plus Calgary & Banff in Alberta) – the first time in my life I’ve had ‘time’ to develop my other interests. I’ve worked with other musicians to craft a new original song, volunteered in film competitions, produced short films of my own and… sung. There is now more than 2000+ songs on my Smule channel – each one crafted, one at a time, all songs are a labour of love, unpaid yes, but… filled with the Joy and satisfaction of creating music, short films and many many friendships online and wordwide. Solace Tasili (‘to comfort) – A Universal Song of Love.
An original songsung by Jaya Khoobsurat in English & Urdu.
Written & composed by four musicians and one translator,
this is a collaboration from four countries with over eight weeks
of work for the single track – a true labour of love & knowledge.
In memory of Professor Stephen Hawking (1942-2018)
“One, remember to look up at the stars and not down at your feet. Two, never give up work. Work gives you meaning and purpose and life is empty without it. Three, if you are lucky enough to find love, remember it is there and don’t throw it away.”

Meet ‘stitch artist’ Jeni Irwin, from Nungurner, Victoria – she has been making shopping bags for quite some years now, using recycled fabrics from op-shops, thrift stores, market stalls – as she explained to me, this is “a project to inspire and encourage the use of some of the huge amount of waste fabric that is sent to landfill – offcuts, leftovers, clothes, linen – rescued for a new life!”

The 48-Hour Film Project (Dubai, 2016) is on again – Dubai kicks off on Thursday 10th November 6:00pm for two crazy days of adrenaline rush to make a film from scratch – and, with rocks in my head, I’m in!

I have placed a new page on my official blog (selfies are a good record of one’s state of mind) – which contain some of the pictures I’ve taken during the making of musical and film achievements – a general history, some definite nostalgia – there are many pics missing from earlier years, which I’ll add when I find them – but… this was a bit of fun for me, and has brought back so much memory, struggle, triumph, sadness, joy and generally experiences that I’ve treasured — comments are welcome; and questions too, if you feel inspired.

I adore this song…. its just, beautiful – very elegant and such a sweet melody. I took the entire day and enjoyed singing… just simply recorded in my (unpadded) humble office – no sound equipment – just, Garage band and a set of headphones. I pray one day, I can record in a beautiful studio again…. if anyone listening/reading this post wants to give me that chance… don’t be shy – use the CONTACT form !

Backing track (these two wonderful musicians are hero’s in my book – revolutionizing the classically trained to do ‘out of the box’ work – they seriously rock – and I adore them – I hope my humble singing effort does justice to their beautiful work): 2CELLOS – Shape Of My Heart [OFFICIAL VIDEO]

Such a wonderful visit two weeks back, to Muscat, Oman – a truly magnificent country, that is a green well-manicured oasis of abundance. I will go back there again, without a doubt – I just fell in love with the place!
Relax as you view the pictures… music to soothe the soul…

To all my cyber friends the world over… May kindness prevail; and hearts unite in peace; children sleep without war or hunger.. Bless all, this day of celebrating the loving heart.

I went with a friend and we visited two places:
1. The Al Ain Museum. Just, MAGNIFICIENT.
One of the best museums I’ve ever been so fortunate to walk into… We explored for hours…. its a rich heritage, lovingly collated. The glass on the front of each of the displays was perfectly polished; and the Emirate lady at front reception, a caring guide/hostess. And I was very happy to have spent such quality time poring over all the amazing array of treasures.
More pics….
